Qualifying was played on September 28–29, with 12 players earning places in the main-draw.
The main tournament begins on Wednesday, September 30, while the women’s singles final is scheduled for Sunday, October 11.
Beijing features a 96-player singles field, with all 32 seeds receiving first-round byes.

Tournament Evolution – China Open

The China Open has grown into one of the largest and most important events on the women’s calendar.

• 2004: Women’s competition was introduced at the China Open, with Serena Williams becoming the inaugural WTA singles champion.
• 2009: The tournament moved to the China National Tennis Center and became a Premier Mandatory event, the predecessor of today’s top WTA 1000 category.
• 2023: Iga Swiatek won Beijing on the tournament’s return to the WTA calendar.
• 2026: The tournament again features a 96-player singles draw, 32 seeded players receiving byes and total financial commitment of $9,415,725 according to the Women’s Tennis Association.

China Open 2026 WTA Draw & Bracket

Main Draw

The China Open 2026 women’s singles draw contains 96 players competing across seven rounds.

The format differs from a conventional 32- or 64-player tournament. The 32 seeded players receive first-round byes, while the other 64 competitors begin in the opening round. An unseeded player therefore needs seven victories to win the title, while a seeded player needs six.

There are 12 qualifier positions in the main draw, with those places being decided on September 29.

World No. 1 and US Open champion Elena Rybakina is the No. 1 seed, followed by Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff and Mirra Andreeva. Defending champion Amanda Anisimova withdrew before the tournament because of a left wrist injury.

China Open 2026 Prize Money & Ranking Points

The China Open has a total financial commitment of $9,415,725, making it one of the richest events on the WTA calendar.

The singles champion will therefore collect 1,000 ranking points and more than $1.15 million, while simply reaching the final is worth 650 points and $612,340.

Swiatek won the tournament on her Beijing debut and captured her sixth WTA 1000 title.

About the China Open

The China Open is a WTA 1000 tournament played on outdoor hard courts at the China National Tennis Center in Beijing.

Women have competed at the tournament since 2004, while the China National Tennis Center has hosted the event since 2009. Its main stadium, Diamond Court, has a capacity of approximately 15,000 spectators.

The 2026 edition runs from September 30 through October 11, with qualifying on September 28–29. The tournament is the second-to-last WTA 1000 event of the season.
