About the Canadian Open 2026

The Canadian Open is one of the longest-running and most prestigious tournaments in tennis. The women’s competition dates back to 1892, while the wider Canadian Championships were first contested in 1881. Only Wimbledon has a longer continuous history among major active tennis tournaments.

The event alternates annually between Toronto and Montreal. In 2026, the women compete at Sobeys Stadium in Toronto. The women return here for the first time since 2024.

As the first of two consecutive WTA 1000 tournaments during the North American summer hard-court swing, Toronto gives players an important opportunity to gain ranking points and prepare for the Cincinnati Open and US Open.

The 2026 field includes World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina, Jessica Pegula, Coco Gauff, Mirra Andreeva, Wimbledon champion Linda Noskova, Iga Swiatek and Amanda Anisimova. Former Canadian Open champions Elina Svitolina, Belinda Bencic, Jessica Pegula and Bianca Andreescu are also part of the draw.
