Karolína Muchová found her edge at just the right moment.
In a semi-final defined by shifts in control, the Czech pulled away late to defeat Elina Svitolina 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 and secure her place in the 2026 Stuttgart Open final.
Muchová strikes early before Svitolina responds
Muchová set the tone from the opening games. She broke immediately and raced into a 3-0 lead, playing with clarity off both wings and offering Svitolina little room to settle. Her service games were particularly clean, with no break chances offered throughout the set.
Even as Svitolina began to extend rallies and find rhythm, the early damage held. Muchová managed the scoreboard efficiently, closing out the first set 6-4 without ever relinquishing control.
The second set told a different story.
Svitolina raised her level sharply, forcing longer exchanges and applying sustained pressure on return. A marathon break game—featuring multiple deuces and seven break points—proved the turning point, as she finally broke through and surged ahead 3-0.
From there, the Ukrainian dictated. Her depth improved, errors reduced, and Muchová struggled to reassert the same authority. The set slipped away 6-2, sending the match into a decider that felt finely balanced.
Late surge seals Muchová’s place in the final
The final set unfolded on narrow margins.
Early games passed without break opportunities, both players holding with increasing efficiency. Svitolina briefly edged ahead, saving break points to maintain a 4-3 lead, but the balance never fully tilted.
At 4-4, Muchová made her move.
A composed hold brought her level before she surged through the closing stages, winning eight of the final ten points. The shift was subtle but decisive—cleaner execution, sharper decision-making, and just enough pressure to draw errors from Svitolina at the worst possible time.
Moments later, it was over.
Muchová advances to the Stuttgart final, where she will chase her second title of the season and the third of her career—a reward for a week built on controlled aggression and timely precision.
