Qualifying was held on September 19–20, with four players earning places in the main draw. The 28-player women’s singles main draw begins on September 21, while the championship match is scheduled for Sunday, September 27. The tournament has been upgraded from WTA 250 to WTA 500 status for 2026.

Singapore’s history with women’s professional tennis stretches well beyond the current tournament.
- 1986: The Singapore women’s event was staged with Gigi Fernandez winning the singles title.
- 1995-2013: The tournament disappeared from the WTA calendar.
- 2014–2018: Singapore hosted the WTA Finals for five seasons, although this was a separate event from the Singapore Open.
- 2025: Tour-level women’s tennis returned with the Singapore Tennis Open as a WTA 250.
- 2026: The tournament moves to September, becomes a WTA 500 and opens the Asian Swing with a 28-player singles field.

Main Draw
The Singapore Tennis Open 2026 women’s singles draw features 28 players.
Because Singapore uses the standard 28-player WTA 500 format, the top four seeds receive first-round byes and begin their tournaments in the Round of 16.

Mertens entered as the No. 2 seed and defeated Taylor Townsend, Tatjana Maria, Camila Osorio and Wang Xinyu before beating Li in the championship match.
The victory gave the Belgian her ninth WTA singles title and made her the first woman to win the Singapore event since Naoko Sawamatsu in 1994.

Sawamatsu won her second Singapore title before the tournament disappeared from the WTA calendar for two decades.

The Singapore Tennis Open presented by BNP Paribas is a WTA 500 tournament played on indoor hard courts at the OCBC Arena in Singapore.
The current event returned to the WTA calendar in 2025 as a WTA 250 and was immediately upgraded to WTA 500 level for 2026. It also moved from its early-season position in January to September, where it now opens the Asian Swing together with the Korea Open.
Main-draw play runs from September 21–27, with qualifying held on September 19–20.
