About the Hamburg Open 2026

The Hamburg Open is a historic outdoor clay-court tournament on the WTA calendar, giving players an opportunity to continue competing in Europe after Wimbledon. Held at the Tennis Stadium am Rothenbaum, the WTA 250 event combines a long tradition of women’s tennis in Hamburg with a modern tournament featuring German players, international names and rising talents.

The history of the women’s competition dates back to 1896. After the original tournament licence was sold in 2002, Hamburg went 19 years without a professional women’s event before WTA tennis returned to the city in 2021.
