Tennis is an unbelievably brutal sport.
Players spend most of the year travelling, dealing with pressure, injuries, ranking points, silly on-court interviews, and the peculiar loneliness of standing on one side of a court knowing there is nobody else to blame when things go wrong.
Which is precisely why fun moments like this are worth enjoying.
Madison Keys, Jessica Pegula, Jennifer Brady and Desirae Krawczyk have played matches on some of the biggest stages in tennis. Yet put the four friends together and ask one of them to perform the apparently straightforward task of reading an advertisement, and suddenly nobody can keep a straight face.
A clip shared on X by Camilla @TennisCamFr captures Jennifer Brady attempting to read an ad on The Player’s Box Podcast to the three other Americans when the whole thing starts to fall apart.
One starts laughing. Another catches it. Somebody tries desperately to regain control. Then one glance across the room is enough to set everybody off again.
Soon the advertisement is almost beside the point.
When Nobody Can Stop Laughing
There is nothing especially complicated about the joke, and that is what makes the clip so funny.
It is simply that familiar moment when laughter becomes contagious. The harder everybody tries to stop, the more impossible it becomes.
For Keys, Pegula, Brady and Krawczyk, whose friendship eventually developed into The Player’s Box podcast, it also offers a glimpse of the personalities that television coverage of professional tennis does not always capture.
On court, everything matters.
Off court, occasionally, it is perfectly fine if one of your friends cannot make it through the sponsor copy because somebody started giggling.
Jennifer Brady’s Long Road Back
Brady’s presence makes the carefree nature of the clip particularly welcome.
The 2021 Australian Open finalist has experienced the other side of professional tennis more than most.
After climbing to a career-high ranking of No. 13, repeated physical problems kept her away from competition for huge periods. Knee and foot injuries interrupted her career after 2021, and another serious knee problem eventually required surgery.
Brady spent 848 days away from competitive tennis before returning in January 2026.
She immediately showed there was still plenty of tennis left in her racket, reaching the semifinals of the ITF W100 event in San Diego before subsequently appearing at Indian Wells, Miami and Charleston.
Her comeback, though, has always been about more than rankings.
Brady has effectively had to discover how much professional tennis her body will still allow her to play after years in which injuries repeatedly prevented her from doing the thing that made her one of the best players in the world.
The WTA currently lists her as inactive, but there has been no confirmed retirement announcement.
She clearly is also into ads these days though 🤣.
Desirae Krawczyk Has Not Retired Either
Krawczyk’s situation also requires some clarification.
The WTA currently marks her as inactive, but that should not be mistaken for confirmation that she has ended her career.
Krawczyk played during the 2026 season and won the Charleston doubles title alongside Caty McNally in April, adding another trophy to an accomplished career.
She has been one of the leading doubles specialists of her generation, reaching a Grand Slam women’s doubles final while also winning four major mixed-doubles titles.
In the clip, though, none of that matters very much.
Tennis Can Afford to Laugh at Itself
Professional tennis often encourages players to behave as though every moment carries enormous significance.
In fairness, plenty of them do.
Careers are short. Injuries can change everything overnight. Rankings determine entry lists. Prize money matters. A season can turn on a few points played thousands of miles from home.
Keys, Pegula, Brady and Krawczyk know all of that better than almost anybody.
For a minute or three, nobody needs to analyse a forehand. Nobody needs to explain a defeat. Nobody needs to do a press conference attended by just three people and a horse.
Jennifer Brady is simply trying to read an advertisement.
And failing spectacularly because she and the others cannot stop laughing.
We all love the WTA.
