Qualifying – Final Round
The final qualifying round in Doha delivered a mix of upsets and veteran statements as eight players booked their places in the Qatar Open main draw.
Beatriz Haddad Maia fell at the final hurdle, losing in straight sets to Russia’s Anastasia Zakharova, while former Grand Slam finalist Vera Zvonareva continued her comeback with a composed win over Magdalena Frech.
Sonay Kartal impressed again, edging out Kimberly Birrell, and Varvara Gracheva cruised past Elisabetta Cocciaretto.
Alycia Parks, Camila Osorio, Eva Seidel and Tereza Valentova also advanced, underlining the depth and unpredictability of the qualifying field.
