Linda Nosková produced one of the most emphatic performances of the day in Stuttgart, brushing aside Ekaterina Alexandrova 6–1, 6–1 in a match that quickly slipped out of the latter’s control.
From the opening games, the Czech dictated terms with clarity and intent. Alexandrova, still searching for rhythm after a patchy run of results, found little margin to settle. Nosková surged into a 4–0 lead in the opening set, capitalising on second serves and repeatedly punishing loose errors.
Even brief resistance failed to shift the pattern. Alexandrova created opportunities—most notably holding three break points in one game—but could not convert, a recurring theme that allowed Nosková to maintain scoreboard pressure without interruption.
Relentless Nosková leaves no room for recovery
The second set followed the same trajectory, if anything more decisively.
Nosková broke immediately and continued to target Alexandrova’s serve with precision, extending rallies just enough to draw errors before stepping in to finish points. The Russian’s level, already fragile, dipped further as the match progressed, with her inability to protect second serves proving particularly costly.
There was little fluctuation in momentum. Nosková remained composed, efficient, and unhurried, closing the match in under an hour to secure her place in the quarter-finals.
For Alexandrova, the defeat extends a difficult stretch since her run to the Dubai final, with wins proving hard to come by. For Nosková, it marks a second quarter-final appearance of the 2026 season—and one built on control rather than tension.
A match that offered early openings for resistance instead became a statement of clarity: Nosková saw them, took them, and never let go.
