The main draw runs from August 23–29, with qualifying beginning on August 22. The WTA 500 tournament features a 28-player singles draw and 16-team doubles field, with $1,206,446 in total financial commitment.

Tournament Evolution – Monterrey Open

  • 2009: The Monterrey Open is founded and becomes part of the international women’s professional tennis calendar

Main Draw

The Monterrey Open 2026 WTA singles draw features 28 players competing across five rounds.

The Monterrey draw gives the four highest-seeded players first-round byes. They enter the tournament directly in the Round of 16 and therefore need four victories to win the title. Everyone else must win five matches.

The latest entry list contains 19 direct acceptances, four wildcard positions, four qualifiers and one special-exempt position.

All four receive first-round byes and begin their tournaments in the Round of 16. Alexandrova returns after reaching the Monterrey final in 2025, while Chwalinska arrives after a breakthrough season that included a run to the Roland Garros final.

Diana Shnaider won the 2025 women’s singles title by defeating Ekaterina Alexandrova in the final.

The victory gave Shnaider her fifth career WTA singles title, while Alexandrova finished runner-up after also reaching the semifinals in Monterrey in 2024.

Linda Noskova, the top-ranked player in the 2026 field, won the previous edition in 2024 when she defeated Lulu Sun 7-6, 6-4 in the championship match. Donna Vekic, another player returning in 2026, was champion in 2023.

The Monterrey Open is a WTA 500 outdoor hard-court tournament held at Club Sonoma in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. Founded in 2009, it has developed into one of the leading women’s professional tennis events in Mexico and was promoted from WTA 250 to WTA 500 status in 2024.

The 2026 edition takes place immediately before the US Open and gives players one final opportunity to compete for ranking points and match practice before the season’s last Grand Slam.
